What are the Neoprene Strips for?
You may have noticed that your Flip came with two neoprene strips in a small plastic bag. So, why are they included, and why aren’t they already installed?
The short version: Porsche being Porsche, and user preferences. If you decide to use the strips, scroll to the bottom for installation tips.
The longer version:
Most Porsche cups are 460mL, but a few color-matched ones (like Python Green or Frozen Berry) are slightly different at 450mL. These are just a bit shorter and wider, which means they don't sit properly on the Flip’s flip-open door as intended. To fix that, we adjusted the Flip's cup ring to support those cups, making it about 1mm wider than standard Porsche cups.
That very small change improves compatibility with the wider 450mL mugs but can make the fit slightly loose for regular cups or smaller bottles. That’s where the neoprene strips come in. They’re optional and help create a snug fit for cups or bottles that might otherwise rattle or shift in the holder.
Whether or not you use them depends on what you’re putting in your Flip. If you ever need replacement strips, just reach out and we’ll send you a pair.
The cup ring has recesses on the lower half to fit the neoprene strips.
We’ll refer to the hinge side of the ring as the “back” and the opposite side of the ring (the side with a cutout) as the “front.”
At the front and back of each recess are small ridges to guide where the neoprene strip should go. They may be a little hard to see but you can feel them with your fingertips or a fingernail.
Peel the backing tape off a neoprene strip, and line up the strip in the recess
We recommend lining up with the ridge at the front of each recess and work your way back. It’s easier to get the alignment right that way.
Apply the full strip
Repeat this for the other side of the cup ring.
Definitely try the Flip without the strips first and see if you need them based on your cup/bottle first.
