It makes me so happy that he finds joy in drawing. We could all learn something by watching a child draw. They don’t care what is “right” or if it looks “good”. They just go out and create.
The Squeakly Blog
The Squeakly Blog is a site started by a couple Blue Sky animators, where people can contribute drawings to the site based on a weekly theme. I was really excited when it started back up, but until tonight I had very little time. I found about 15 minutes before Game of Thrones to quickly sketch something out for this week’s theme. So, here you have it!
The Butcher
Blue Sky Soccer Logo
A few months back I re-designed our corporate soccer logo. Here are 2 examples of it being used. One on our new team jerseys, and later on I had patches made and gave them out as gifts to those who had been playing with us. Design Elements include: BSSFC – Blue Sky Studios Football Club – Scrat – And a star, representing out indoor championship from a couple years ago. It had been so long since I designed anything. It felt really good to get in there and produce something like this.
Andreas Deja visits Blue Sky
This past week, Andreas Deja came to visit us at Blue Sky! It was great to hear his thoughts on his work, anecdotal stories about the productions, and insights into the industry as it stands today. He is an amazing talent, and we were very fortunate to have him in the studio. You can follow his blog *Here* , and learn more about him, and the work he has done *Here*.
Old Content Removed
I’ve removed a lot of my old content. Most of it was personal or school related stuff, which doesn’t have a home on the interwebs anymore.
A couple cleaned up.
Some Playblast Sketches
Recently I’ve been making an effort to sketch more. Basically the only time I have are the few minutes here and there during play-blasts at work, or late at night. Here are a few in a series I did. One a day, for a week, each done over 10 minutes or so. At one point I threw my headphones down on my desk, and they fell in such a way where it looked like they were sitting in the ears of my first drawing, so I just went with it. I’ll clean up a few of these later on. Days 1-5
Ice Age: Continental Drift – Animation Wraps
Ice Age: Continental Drift: In the rear view.
I wrapped up my work on Ice Age: Continental Drift this past Friday! I’ll be trying to catch this thing up to speed in the coming weeks (and keep it updated). In the meantime, I just added a ton of new headers now that this theme supports randomization. It’s the little things that get me excited.
